CLINICAL SPECIALTIES & THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
As an integrative counselor, I am influenced by Gestalt therapy, Sensorimotor therapy, transpersonal therapies, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My therapeutic approach is primarily relational, somatic (body oriented), mindfulness-based and oriented to the Here-and-Now.
To put it simply, I approach therapeutic healing as a mind, body, spirit affair rather than just one of "fixing" the mind. I do not approach you as if you are broken, rather as a human in the process of becoming whole again.
Gestalt Therapy teaches us that every part of ourselves is essential to our vitality and that our vitality is essential to the world. As a relational therapist, I commit to meeting you authentically as a real person in the present moment, guiding you into creating a keen self-awareness of your experience and forming a healthy relationship with all aspects of yourself.
Experiencing, rather than analyzing and thinking, allows you to encounter your blocks to healing and growth in an embodied and trust-worthy way. With these blocks illuminated, the path toward integration of all parts of yourself becomes clear and is practiced in the present moment within the therapeutic relationship. The process of therapy should nurture tremendous self- compassion and acceptance, while also pushing you to take direct responsibility in your life.
I have successfully utilized these approaches to work with clients who are facing challenges related to:
Early-development attachment wounds
Unresolved Trauma
Family and Relationship Issues
Acute Stress
Anxiety and Panic Attacks
Depression and Loss of Personal Meaning
Spiritual Emergencies
Eating Disorders
Self-harm behaviors
Life Transitions
As my approach utilizes therapies based in experiencing, the best way to understand the benefits of counseling is to come in for a session. I am happy to talk to you more about my work during a free initial phone consultation. If you would like to contact me, please Click Here
